Badge of Life Canada is a registered Canadian Charity led and supported by volunteers who “walk the talk” with a “pay it forward” approach. Badge of Life Canada supports Canadian public safety personnel by offering a safe, confidential place where members in crisis can turn for immediate information that can provide hope, growth and recovery to those members who are suffering an operational stress injury, including post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, and addictions; with access to counselling, including suicide prevention counselling, information and group support programs. All our funding comes from private donations from individuals, groups of individuals and corporations. All donations go directly towards the programs and operations of the Charity.
Our third annual “Advancing Post-Traumatic Growth Event” will be held at the Horseshoe Resort in Oro-Medonte (Ontario) from October 16-18, 2024. For this year’s Event, Badge of Life Canada brings together a distinguished group of professionals dedicated to the mental health and wellbeing of Canadian Public Safety Personnel. Featuring experts from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), alongside leading psychologists, psychotherapists and occupational therapists (OT), discussion will delve into comprehensive approaches for addressing operational stress injuries including post-traumatic stress and suicidal ideation. This multifaceted discussion aims to equip leaders of Canadian Public Safety organizations with knowledge, tools, and hope for navigating the challenges of operational stress injuries. Join us for an engaging and insightful day focused on achieving healthy living and post-traumatic growth.
More items will be added as soon as we receive them from our donors.
The auction is to raise funds to help cover the costs of our 2024 Event. All prices shown are in Canadian dollars. Winning bids will be paid in Canadian dollars. Since Badge of Life Canada is a registered charity, NO sale taxes (HST) will be added to the winning bids.
All items are new and never used. Some of the items come in a box that had to be opened to take pictures and description / measurements. More items will be added as soon as we receive them from our donors.
Please watch the video on "How to Bid" to familiarize yourself with the site and the bidding process. The link can be found on the left side of the page. You will notice that the winning bid will have an additional 5% fee added to the bid to cover the costs of the company that runs the auction for Badge of Life. We are able to run the auction at no cost to us and ALL proceeds go directly to Badge of Life Canada.
The items will be displayed at the 2024 Event at the Horseshoe Resort. The online auction allows us to reach additional people who are unable to attend the Event but want to support our Event and work.
If you attend the Event and are the winning bid, you will be able to take the item with you (after paying the invoice of course). If you are unable to attend the Event but are the winning bidder, the item will be shipped to you. Some of the items can be shipped at no cost to you because of their smaller size. Other items (such as the set of Carlina Lamps) will incur some shipping costs but we will minimize those costs as much as possible. Each item should have a description about shipping costs.
This is the way the auction will be completed:
1) The auction will close at 12:30 (lunch time) on the last day of the Event (18 Oct 2024);
2) The winning bidder of each item will receive an invoice from the auction site shortly after bidding is completed. The invoice is automatically generated by the system.
3) Once you receive the invoice, you will be able to pay it via credit / debit cards directly online. Once the invoice is paid, you will own the item of your winning bid and you can take it with you (if you are at the Event).
4) If you are not at the Event, the item you won should be shipped to you during the week of November 4, 2024.
The silent auction is hosted by an independent third party. Accordingly, Badge of Life Canada’s Board members and volunteers are permitted to bid on items as they have no control or access to the auction website. Badge of Life Canada’s Executive Director and volunteer web designer will not be bidding on any of the items in order to avoid a potential perceived conflict of interest.
