This year our group will be traveling to Morocco in February 2025.
While in Morocco we will stay in a remote Amazigh village in the High Atlas
Mountains. We will work with local community groups on educational and
infrastructure initiatives, among those to include laying concrete sidewalks in
a village and assisting a local group of entrepreneurial women who grow, dry,
and package tea leaves to contribute to their local economy. Our club
will also visit local schools to connect with peers, discover commonalities
with individuals across the world, and learn about the Moroccan culture; be
involved in cooking cuisine from the region; explore the spice shops and
bustling souks of Marrakesh; and immerse ourselves in the city while on a tour
of the beautiful architecture. Our local student organization aims to
provide meaningful experiences of volunteerism for students, often within small
communities, making an impact on both the volunteer and the recipient.
Past trips include Tanzania to build cisterns for a small village, the
Dominican Republic to assist in a project repairing the coral reef, India to
work at a bear and elephant sanctuary, and to Thailand to assist a village with
their ongoing marine conservation projects.
